FPGA Embedded Design, Part 4 – Microprocessor Design is the name of the fourth part of the FPGA chip training, in this part you will learn how to make a microprocessor, published by Udemy Academy.
It’s time to accept a challenge! What does a CPU design look like? In the fourth part of the FPGA Embedded Design series, you’ll design a CPU from scratch to eventually deploy it on multiple platforms. We write most of the code in Vivado Design Suite, but you’ll also have the chance to see it in action in Quartus Prime, EDA Playground or LabsLand, so you can follow your favorite tools. The FPGA boards we will use are BASYS3 by Digilent (with Xilinx FPGA) and DE0-CV from Terasic (with Intel FPGA). This course consists of three main parts:
- Fundamentals of Computer Architecture, where we will cover the essentials of CPU design and terminology.
- Our own CPU design, where we will make several design decisions to create a smooth processor that meets our needs.
- Hands-On Development, where we write the code, simulate and finally put our CPU on an FPGA board. No purchase is required for this part, but it will certainly help you keep track of your board and continue to work with your new soft processor in the future.
