The flagship gaming handsets of ASUS ROG Phone 5 – ASUS ROG Phone 5 were introduced in three versions with 144 Hz display, Snapdragon 888 and up to 18 GB of RAM.

Asus has finally unveiled its ROG Phone 5 series gaming phones . These gaming flagships now have better performance, better ergonomics than their predecessors, and their Ultimate Edition, with support for 18GB of RAM, has pushed the boundaries of memory in the gaming world.

Asus Ragphone 5 family; Technical specifications and facilities

As expected, the Asus Ragphone 5 will be available in several different versions. The regular version of this phone has three configurations or models that Asus calls A, B and C. The only difference between the three is their memory configuration. Model A will have 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory, Model B will have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory and Model C will have 12.8 GB of RAM and 128.256 GB of internal memory. Note that the memory technology in these models is UFS 3.1, except for the 128 GB C model.

The next version is called the Asus Ragphone 5 Pro, which comes in a single configuration with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS memory. Finally, the Rugphone 5 is an ultimate model in which the RAM capacity has been upgraded to an astonishing “18 GB”. Of course, the internal memory of this phone is not more than 512 GB, and there will be no microSD card slot on it.

The main camera of the Asus ROG Phone 5 gaming uses a 64-megapixel quad-core sensor called Sony IMX686 with 2.1 OCL autofocus system and f / 1.8 aperture. It also comes with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide (125-degree) sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. At the front is a 24-megapixel Quad Bayer selfie camera with an f / 2.45 lens. The main camera of this phone can record videos with 8K resolution and 30 frames or 4K and 60 frames. An electronic image stabilizer is also available for video recording.

All three models are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, which was not expected. Asus has designed these handsets to deliver enhanced performance in all areas. In the meantime, we can mention even longer battery life than in the past.

This phone is equipped with a 6000 mAh battery that is divided into two cells. This cell division allows Asus to move the motherboard closer to the center of the phone. This has two advantages. First, it allows the AeroActive Cooler 5 cooling system to be as close to the chipset as possible. Second, it keeps the heat generated away from the user’s fingers.

This cell division also allowed the manufacturer to increase the battery charge to 65 watts. As before, the phone is charged via a USB-C port built into the bezel, while you can also use the USB-C port on the side of the bezel. The port on the side of the device also allows you to connect an external display, headphones or AeroActive Cooler 5 cooler.

The Asus Ragphone 5 is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display made by Samsung, while the previous generation uses a 6.59-inch display. This display is HDR10 + certified, covering 111% of the DCI-P3 color space and 151% of the sRGB color space. And with a maximum brightness of 800 nits, it will be brighter than the previous generation display. The display resolution and refresh rate remain unchanged (+ 1080p and 1440 Hz with a response rate of 1 milliseconds), while the touch sampling rate has been upgraded from 270 to 300 Hz. Asus says that the touch delay rate of this display is 24.3 milliseconds. As for its resolution, it lacks the benefit of an adaptive refresh rate. This panel can offer rates of 60, 120 and 144 Hz, while thanks to the Auto mode, it automatically switches between these three rates compared to the content you see.

The screen of this phone is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, which significantly prevents fingerprints from remaining on the screen even when your fingers are wet. Although the screen is larger in size, it offers 25% smaller margins. This means that it is only a few millimeters taller and about one millimeter wider than its predecessor. This is while the weight of the device remains unchanged at 238 grams.

This phone has a 3.5 mm headphone jack with ESS Saber ES9280AC Pro Quad DAC deck. The Class G amplifier in this phone automatically detects the impedance of your headphones and switches between the appropriate modes. This means it supports headphones between 8 and 1000 ohms.

The chipset also features front-facing stereo speakers powered by two Cirrus Logic CS35L45 amplifiers, each of which can deliver 21 percent more power than the previous generation. If you want, you can use a Bluetooth speaker or a headset with support for aptX Adaptive, LDAC and AAC codecs.

But another change between the Asus Rugphone 5 models is that the regular version is equipped with the ability to display the gamers’ color logo on the back cover, while the other two models have a small touch screen called ROG Vision on the back cover. The display on the Pro model is a PM-OLED color, while the Ultimate version uses a black and white version.

These monitors can display incoming calls, charging or loading games. Android 11 is also installed on all three phones, and you can choose one of the usual Zen UI or ROG UI gaming interface of your choice.

Asus Ragphone 5 Accessories

Pro and Ultimate versions come with AeroActive Cooler 5 by default. Studies show that using this cooler reduces body temperature by up to 15 degrees and chipset temperature by up to 10 degrees. The cooler also has two physical buttons on the shoulder, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a stand. In addition, the phone itself includes ultrasonic shoulder buttons that are available if this cooler is not connected. You can also use these buttons for quick access to games.

Asus has also made the ROG Kunai 3 gamepad compatible with this phone. ROG Clip also lets you connect a PS4, Xbox or Stadia game console to your phone. There is also a dock called Professional Dock with HDMI port and two USB ports.
