What is the difference between ADSL and Broadband?

What is ADSL?

ADSL can generally be distributed at short distances from the call center, usually between 4 and 5 km. To exchange communication lines, a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) device, which is another type of frequency divider for separating the audio band from the telephone network, is added to the end. The data is then routed over the telephone company’s data network and finally connected to the main data protocol-based Internet protocol.

ADSL is a two-way data exchange solution and is usually established using a pair of copper wires based on one of the frequency division duplex (FDD), time-division duplex (TDD) or echo-canceling duplex (ECD) technologies. There are several types of ADSL technology today, such as ADSL 2 and ADSL 2+. These newer models provide higher data exchange rates. ADSL 2 provides speeds of up to 12,000 kbps and ADSL 2+ provides speeds of up to 24,000 kbps.

Broadband was initially introduced as a technology independent of dial-up services that offered wider bandwidth. This technology is available in two formats DSL or cable. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has defined broadband as a connection that provides a higher data rate than the standard data rate of 1.5 Mbps.

In addition, broadband transfer technologies were intended to take advantage of the wide bandwidth provided by fiber optics. Broadband provides access to quality Internet services for streaming media, games, Internet telephony and interactive services.

There are many different types of digital subscriber line services (DSL) today, including SDSL (symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) and HDSL (High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line). The basis of all these technologies is the assurance that digital information is transmitted through high-bandwidth channels.
