Description
Neuroscience and Neuroimaging Specialization is published by Coursera Academy. This specialization combines 4 different neuroscience courses into one cohesive learning experience. Taught by Johns Hopkins University, this course begins with fundamental neuroscience concepts for neuroimaging. Neuroimaging methods are used with increasing frequency in clinical practice and basic research. It begins with the neuroanatomy of the brain, then covers the basics of neuroimaging, including experimental design in neuroimaging, functional connectivity MRI, diffusion tensor imaging, and spectroscopic imaging.
This specialization then continues with two courses that focus on functional magnetic resonance imaging, one of the most widely used techniques for examining the living and functional human brain while performing tasks and experiencing mental states, and a point of convergence for multidisciplinary work. in this Expertise is taught using the R programming language with related packages to perform data manipulation, processing and analysis of neuroimaging data using publicly available structural MRI. Students will first design, structure and learn fMRI data, then use the R programming language and its related package to manipulate, process and analyze neuroimaging data. Specifically, you will learn how to read and write brain images in NIfTI format, visualize and analyze these images, perform heterogeneity correction, brain extraction, and image registration (in one subject and one template).
What you will learn
- Learn about the design, structure, and acquisition of fMRI data.
- Familiarize yourself with fMRI artifacts and types of noise.
- You will learn how to read and write brain images in NIfTI format.
- Learn about magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
