Course description
How to Structure a Laravel Project is a complete course that aims to discuss practical examples of structuring larger Laravel projects, different approaches and patterns. Basic Laravel is an MVC framework, it is clear what should be in Model, View and Controller. But what if you had custom logic to process the data before sending it to the view? Where should it be?
In this Controller method?
private Controller method?
Static function in the model?
Separate class, like service?
Or maybe a global helper function without any class?
Also, I’ve heard that Repository is a widely used pattern?
Of course, the correct answer is that it depends. But what does it depend on? This is what I will talk about in this course. The goal is to discuss practical examples of the structure of larger Laravel programs, different approaches, and patterns. We will analyze existing popular open source projects and their structure.
This course will not be about design patterns. So fancy keywords like Singleton, Factory, Adapter, Repository, etc. will be used only when appropriate.
What I will try to do is focus on the practical side: folders, classes and methods, and not what the pattern is called in theory. In reality, each project is actually a combination of templates, and developers don’t even know what they’re called.
What you will learn in this course:
- Core Laravel MVC: Working with Controllers/Models/Views
- Laravel custom classes inside app/Folder
- SOLID principles with examples
- Design patterns
