This program uses three different methods to automatically find the location of hidden peaks (peaks and valleys), although each of the methods is very powerful, but sometimes, in certain circumstances, one method may be the result. get better than the other.
- Residuals method: This is how it first finds the location of the peaks by finding the relative maximum in a continuous stream of data and then adds hidden peaks arbitrarily in the places where the peak occurs in the residuals. .
- The second derivative method: it looks for the relative minima that exist in the neighborhood of the places where the second derivatives become zero in a continuous stream of data. These relative minima usually reveal the location of hidden peaks.
- Deconvolution method: uses a Gaussian response function along with a Fourier deconvolution transformation algorithm. A spectrum that can be successfully deconvoluted will contain sharper peaks in a relatively balanced range. The purpose of this method is to find the highest hidden peaks, each of which represents a relative maximum.
If the feature of automatic placement of peaks in PeakFit software has a problem due to very complex data or the presence of disturbances in them, you can place the peaks graphically with just a few clicks of the mouse. Also, this software allows you to manipulate very complex data and get a simpler output. For most datasets, PeakFit does most of the computational work for you.
