Description
Linux KVM course for System and cloud Engineers. KVM virtual machine is a virtualization solution for Linux. It contains a loadable kernel module that allows the Linux kernel to function as a hypervisor. KVM provides hardware-assisted virtualization for a wide range of guest operating systems. Under KVM, each VM is a Linux process that is scheduled and managed by the kernel and has private virtual hardware (such as CPU, network card, disk, etc.). It also supports nested virtualization, which allows you to run one VM inside another virtual machine. In this course, we are going to cover the goals of KVM (Kernel Based Machines), at the end of the session we will discuss the following topics with appropriate LABs:
Quick introduction to Hypervior and KVM:
- What is a hypervisor?
- KVM Quick Intro, its advantages/disadvantages and terminology
Install and configure KVM
- LAB details, prerequisite for KVM installation
- Install KVM
- KVM network configuration
- KVM Storage Pool configuration
Create guest virtual machines
KVM management
- Management of guest virtual machines
- Backup (snapshots) of guest virtual machines
- Increase the disk size of the guest virtual machine
- Create/restore snapshots of guest virtual machines
- Rename a guest VM
- Increase resources in guest virtual machines
- Simulate the guest VM
- Troubleshoot KVM problems
- Restore the VM
- Create a KVM vBridge (host and NAT only)
