This training course covers one of the most useful extensions of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and tabular model in SQL Server analytical services. If you have the appropriate version of Excel, we’ll enable PowerPivot, and if not, we’ll install SQL Server on your computer, which can do the same. We install the Developer version which used to cost $100 for free. After activating PowerPivot or installing SQL Server, we will create our first analysis in Excel or SQL Server in just a few minutes. After just the first few minutes, you’ll be ahead of anyone who knows nothing about Power Pivot. After this introduction, we will go into detail in PowerPivot or SSAS – the basic data and the different options available to you. We’ll go over advanced options that most people don’t even know about, but are very useful. We then develop DAX formulas to further develop the model. Many of the formulas are based on Excel formulas, but there are a few extras. By the end, you’ll be an expert user of PowerPivot and SSAS, able to create reliable analyzes that can be quickly reviewed, and able to help others analyze their data. This helps with the data part of the Microsoft exam 70-779 “Data Analysis and Visualization with Microsoft Excel”. It also helps with the “Designing a Tabular BI Semantic Model” and “Developing Queries Using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)” section of Microsoft exam 70-768 “Developing SQL Data Models”.
