Description
Winsoft OCR is an Optical Character Recognition component for retrieving text from an image, for example from a scanned paper document. Tesseract is the most accurate open source OCR engine, and its combination with the Leptonica image processing library allows it to read a wide variety of image formats and convert them into more than 60 languages. This engine was one of the top 3 engines in the 1995 UNLV accuracy test. Little work was done on it between 1995 and 2006, but it has since been improved by Google and released under the Apache 2.0 license. The Leptonica library is useful for many operations on image documents and natural images. Among the features of the Leptonica library, we can mention scaling, rotation, translation of images on desired pixel depth, binary and black and white morphology, image conversion by changing the pixel depth.
