MediaTek has introduced the MT9638 chip for 4K TVs

The MT9638 chip is one of the newest chipsets produced by the Taiwanese company MediaTek for 4K resolution smart TVs.

Although MediaTek has a reputation for mobile chipsets, the company makes chips for all electronic products. The MT9638 is also one of the newest chips made by it to target 4K smart TVs, and production will begin in the second quarter of 2021. Not to mention that MediaTek is known as the largest mobile chip maker in the world , surpassing Qualcomm .

Support for 4K quality is not only the capability of this new chip, but also uses artificial intelligence with features such as super resolution video and photos along with voice recognition. The not-so-well-known MEMC feature is also embedded in this chip, which is an important feature for gaming and changes the refresh rate of the image.

The 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 quad-core processor along with a dedicated APU for artificial intelligence processing along with the ARM Mali-G52 MC1 GPU are other hardware specifications of this new chip. With the help of this hardware, the MT9638 chip can instantly and simultaneously detect content and sequences and adjust density, brightness, image resolution and noise reduction.

With the help of artificial intelligence super resolution, it increases the quality of images up to 4K quality and in combination with MEMC, a high-resolution smooth image is provided to the user. Playback of 4K images at 60 frames per second and support for HEVC along with VP9 and AV1 are other important features of this chip. HDR10 Plus with 2304 backlight points is another feature of the new MediaTek chip.

Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X are also included in the MT9638 for a better audio experience. The chip uses a physical HDMI 2.1a port to connect to USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi 6 to connect wirelessly.
