Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform was introduced with a big goal. The Snapdragon Sound delivers low-latency, high-quality wireless sound to phones and headphones.
There are many ways to prevent proper audio playback; Especially if you want to use a wireless headset. Qualcomm has unveiled a new platform called Snapdragon Sound to address all of these issues .
What is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform?
The company has used a communication system called FastConnect 6900 on its Snapdragon 800 series chipsets, which is compatible with QCC514x and QCC515x and QCC3056 series Bluetooth headsets and airbags.
Meanwhile, headsets that support the aptX Adaptive codec (which can deliver 24-bit 96kHz sound quality) can experience very low latency of 89 milliseconds (45% less than competitors, according to Qualcomm). There is also a codec called aptX Voice for voice calls and conference calls, as well as the presence of an active noise canceling system on the platform. Qualcomm Aqstic technology also allows you to play music at high volume with your phone without damaging the speaker.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform is designed to counteract the interference of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals; So it can give you sound without interference, even in very crowded environments. Qualcomm also says the platform allows Bluetooth wireless headsets and airbags to connect to phones very quickly.
Xiaomi will be one of the first handset makers to use this platform. A headphone maker called Audio-Technica was one of the first brands to hire Snapdragon Sound. In addition, the close collaboration between Amazon and Qualcomm could lead to the addition of a playlist of Snapdragon Sound music to Amazon Music HD in the near future.
Li Zhang, vice president of Mi smartphones and senior director of hardware research and development at Xiaomi, said:
Xiaomi is eager to be the first handset maker to build devices with the Snapdragon Sound platform. Snapdragon Sound delivers a high-quality, uninterrupted, and latency-free audio experience for customers anywhere, allowing them to hear better when making voice calls, video conferencing, playing games or listening to music.
Kotara Narihara, Director and Chief Marketing Officer of Audio-Technica, also stated:
We believe that Snapdragon Sand brings us closer to our ultimate goal of providing wired audio quality with wireless equipment, and we are excited to be one of the first manufacturers to offer products using this technology to our customers.
We will come back to this technology in more detail soon.
