Why installing software slows down your computer?

You will be happy when you buy a new computer. Months later, you feel very usable at high speeds.

But nothing impressive. After a year, you are experiencing a significant slowness. Why?

Can’t stand your computer slowing down?

Here are some reasons why your computer slows down.

No new computer has any software installed on it before use

You need to get the software you need and install it.

Installing many programs on different operating systems such as Windows, MacOS or Linux will affect the performance of your computer.

But if computers are designed to run software, why is that?

The software requires hard disk space

I like to think briefly about computer storage.

The numbers on the screen tell me there is a limit

But this can be customized for everyone and me.

Storage corresponds to a real physical thing.

Programs may not take up physical space on a desk or shelf, but they do exist.

The more programs you install on your hard drive,

Access to more of the hardware your computer needs.

Unless your hard drive is full enough that your operating system and applications do not have the space to perform the required functions.

If your computer is not full of applications, any slowdowns you may experience may be related to other components.

The software needs RAM

ram will have an immediate effect on how your computer runs smoothly.

It provides much smoother flow than the speed provided by your hard drive.

RAM is essential for the performance of your computer.

When you write an article in word processing, your changes are stored in RAM.

The more programs you open at the same time, the more RAM space you need.

After filling the available RAM, your computer can save these files to your hard drive instead.

Because your hard drive takes longer to read and write, it takes less experience.

It only applies to applications that you are actively using or running in the background.



Sometimes you install bad software

You can view the images and read the reviews

But you do not know what it will be like to use an application until you download it.

This means a leap in your work. You do not know exactly what you are getting.

Sometimes programs are more than you expect.

Like additional browser toolbars and add-ons, they sneak up.

Those who provide pop-up notifications or ads must run in the background to provide this feature.

This means that computer resources are spent on things you do not even want to do.

Such software is annoying, but not necessarily malicious.

Adware, spyware and viruses are much more dangerous

They can slow down your computer.


“Good” software is not always optimized

The software that Microsoft creates for Windows uses frameworks (or shared background resources) in Windows.

The same goes for Apple and macOS.

The situation is more complicated in Linux,

But the core is the same.

Software sourced from other sources may not use the same framework

And require different components.

In most cases, you no longer need to download these additional libraries. The app knows how to do this for you.

But that means you now have extra system resources in the background.

Do you need to download additional software?

If you do the things you need to do, the computer will not be used much.

But the fact is that downloading and installing too much software can hinder your overall experience.

Even on a relatively fast Linux operating system, I still prefer to use programs

Designed with a desktop environment.

In fact, you can run a  lot  of software on a modern PC without any problems.

Most of the weight will still be your web browser. It’s amazing how many websites are embedded on our computers today.


In fact, it all depends on the age of your computer.
To be honest, this possibility will not be fully considered in a brand new computer.
