Learn data science and analytics from scratch course. Hi, this is Kangxiao, I have many years of working experience from industry leaders such as Paypal, Google and Chime. Throughout my career, I’ve used data to perform analytics, build models, and solve key business problems. When I learn online, I often run into two problems:
- This course provides in-depth knowledge, but not very broad coverage. In fact, we don’t have to be experts at everything. But if we know the basics of many things, it will give us a great advantage.
- This course focuses too much on the technical side. I find that many courses focus entirely on coding, like how to write Python code, or statistics, like the math behind different types of ML models. And there are very few courses that link data analysis, modeling, and coding together to solve real-world problems.
In this course, I want to bridge these gaps by providing very broad coverage of data science, statistics, modeling, and coding, and using case studies to connect data, coding, and statistics together. This is exactly what we do in the real world, in our daily work. The best talent I see at Paypal, Google, and Chime are the ones who are really good at connecting the dots to solve complex problems. At the end of this course, we will examine two big projects with different axes. We will apply the knowledge we learned earlier (statistics, analytics, SQL, Python and modeling) to solve these two cases. The details of these two items are shown below:
- Nashville Housing Analysis
- TLDR: Nashville housing is booming, we have information on home prices, home details, and seller information. How can we use these to perform analysis and provide business advice?
- Area of focus: Analytics and SQL
- Analysis of the subscription business model
- TLDR: We launched the subscription service 2 years ago. As VP of Analytics, we want to provide updates to our CEO that include business performance, opportunities and next step suggestions. We will use data to support our story.
- Area of Focus: Analysis, Modeling, Python and SQL
