Protection and Control of High Voltage Power Circuits is a complete course to study protection devices and methods used in today’s industry. Here we discuss the principles of protection and control of high pressure stations. HV Bus Differential Protection along with restrictions caused by CT saturation and mismatch and its solution, “Restraint Differential Protection” have been studied. Starting with system faults and how they affect the configuration and simple switchyard elements of “differential protection” together with incorrect operation due to CT saturation and mismatches are examined.
High voltage circuit breakers of different types (oil, vacuum, air blast, SF6), their controls (closing/falling/anti-pumping) CUH 90 – VG synchrocheck inspection relay as well as breaker failure protection are part of this. The accompanying module takes a quick look at dynamic monitoring equipment. Remote switching and shutdown with the need to provide immunity against ground rising potential and open circuit situations.
